Angiofibroma

What Is Angiofibroma?

Angiofibroma is a small red papule composed of fibrous tissue and blood vessels, most commonly appearing on or around the nose.

The exact cause of these lesions is not fully understood, and they are usually benign. However, if multiple angiofibromas appear across the face or extend to other areas of the body, this may indicate tuberous sclerosis, a genetic condition that requires specialist medical evaluation. While typically harmless, many people choose treatment for cosmetic reasons or to reduce irritation.

Angiofibroma Treatment Procedure

Angiofibromas must only be treated by a medically qualified practitioner. The lesion is treated with a direct cryotherapy application, holding the device approximately 4 mm above the skin at a 90° angle.

A gentle white frost forms evenly over the lesion, indicating effective freezing. After the first freeze, the tissue is allowed to thaw for about 30 seconds, followed by a second freeze to ensure complete treatment. Mild redness may appear as part of the natural inflammatory response.

Angiofibromas typically resolve within 14 days, revealing healthy skin beneath.
